More Judith Bedard

I thought I would post some more Judith Bedard shots from before she was famous. This was our fist shoot together for a catalog. Very commercial and on location, but I think it shows just what a beautiful woman Judith is...without all the crazy editorial looks in much of her career.

Here is also a link to my last post which has my second shot with her for Susana Monaco.

Judith Bedard Just Reminds Me of Christmas

Looking through photos series for something that says Christmas is harder than you think. But seeing that red hair of the gorgeous Judith Bedard, just reminds me of Christmas.

Originally shot a couple years ago for the Fall 2007 Susana Monaco catalog, the graphic illustrations were created by the illustrious Vault49. Many of you are already familiar with Judith Bedard as she has been in campaigns for Guess, Loius Vuitton, H&M, Old Navy, Italian Vogue, as well as a humanitarian.

Merry Christmas

Snow Days - Amanda Brandao

With the holidays here I was trying to look through my archives and pick some Christmas stories. "Snow Days" was published in Aventura Magazine a couple years ago with the hot Brazilian model, Amanda Brandao (They have Christmas in Brazil). I will try to post some more "Holiday" stories in the next week. That is easier said than done when you shoot fashion.

These photos reflect the huge snow storm we were just hit with. The effect was accomplished "in camera" by using objects in the foreground to create blur while also blurring the background. Profoto lighting.

Thanks

Photo of the Day

Here is a shot from my first portfolio here is New York. I always loved the energy of this shot with my friend Kate. I still remember being up on my roof in Brooklyn.

You can see the film I shot with, Kodak TXP black and white film. I think it was rated at ISO 320. I am not sure the F-stop and shutter speed anymore, but I believe it shot with an old Hasselblad 500c and an 80mm lens. The photo is not retouched.

Houda at Elite Models

I photographed Houda like 4 years ago when she was at New York Models. Very sexy Syrian model who arrived at my studio right when she came to New York. I don't think she uses any of these shots anymore. She is at Elite LA now.

The below shot is un-retouched and shot just with available room light. ISO 400 with a 50mm lens at F2.2 and 1/25 sec hand held.

This shot is definitely retouched. 50mm lens, ISO100 F22 1/80 sec.

Intro Magazine - Bulgaria

I got the PDF's yesterday from a story about my work in Intro Magazine from Bulgaria. They featured the Trapeze shoot I did with Susana Monaco. Unfortunately, not speaking Bulgarian (or any Slavic language), I have no idea what they said. Hint: If you speak Bulgarian let me know! I have one friend I am going to ask and maybe I will post a translation at some point. I think it will be hard to read the text here anyhow as the photo size I posted is not very big (but click to enlarge them just enough).

The series was photographed in a H3D Hasselblad 39 megapixels with 80mm and 150mm lens. Exposures varied, but generally ISO 50 with approximately F8 at 1/1250 sec. The main light was a beauty dish with several fill and background lights. Here is a past post with some very cool behind the scenes photos from the shoot.

Model Profile – Angela Roukas at New York Models

I am trying a new feature of the blog to compliment the other additions like posting some shots from my natural light series. I want to add a few shots of the same model that are not necessarily related by theme or story. I have photographed hundreds of gorgeous models who just never made my main website because there was no overall story attached to it. but I want to share some of the images I enjoyed.

Today is Angela Roukas of New York Models. Completely sexy young woman with a super cool personality. We just shot at my place in Brooklyn for a couple hours. The first shot is probably my favorite from the series. It is just natural window light on my bed with a black cloth background behind.

This shot was done on the floor by my window with bright sunlight.

Editorial - Photos of the Day

I was interviewed by a young photo student today on editorial photography doing a project for the Hallmark Institute of Photography. And I just got an email from a second student from the same school so I guess projects are due this week!

Anyhow, it reminded me of one of my first published stories. These were the only 2 shots I could find from a big Cover story I had for 944 Magazine. The photo of the cover I actually had to track down on the model's Flickr page. The model is Natasha Komis and you have seen her in some pretty hot American Apparel Ads. She is now a pretty successful singer and you can hear her music on her MySpace page.

The photo was taken in Times Square with a Hasselblad 503CW camera and an 80mm lens. I believe I was using Fuji Provia Slide film rated at 400 speed. My exposure was something like 1/125sec at F4 with a flash into a small umbrella.

Thanks
