Easy Sunday Night

I took it easy today. Did a mini shoot of close friends and their adorable little son and ordered some buffalo wings. Sandra and I caught about 40 minutes of the Meetles, an awesome Beatles cover band that plays the Times Square subway stop on weekends sometimes. If you haven't checked them out, it is well worth the buck or two.

Now we are watching Zoolander. I think Ben Stiller was the first celebrity I saw when I came to New York. I was randomly walking behind him by like 15 feet....must have been for like 5 little blocks and didn't realize. But people kept making Something About Mary comments; some straight forward, some witty/dumb. It looked like he had a drink drink in his had and just kept firing back pleasant or witty/dumb comments himself. It must be hard not to just be able to walk down the street anonymous. From 15 feet away, he seemed like a pretty cool guy.

I don't really have a Zoolander shot, but this mildly reminds me of male model's in the movie and the drink drink in Ben Stiller's hand. I guess that would be a fun way to waste some time: go though my archives and see if some male model over the years has a Blue Steel expression in one of the shots.

The photo was originally part of an editorial I shot for a magazine, years and years ago.

More Svenja Parotat

I posted a photo of Svenja Parotat back on May 9th. She is a beautiful German model I photographed from Elite Models last year. I thought I would post a few more. You have seen her on the cover of Elle, Madame Figaro, New York Magazine, and Ads for Escada, La Perla and Clariol. There is a really sexy series of her from Ellen Von Unwerth.

There is no retouching on these, so you can tell just how naturally beautiful Svenja is. I think I shot it with my Canon 5D Mark II and my 85mm 1.2 lens.

Thanks

DJ Kiss for 944 Magaine

I wanted to post a shot I did for DJ Kiss a couple months back that ran in 944 Magazine. She is really blowing up and traveling worldwide to spin. I know she has a bunch of high profile clients. I will try to post more of our shots in the next couple weeks. You can see more of her at her Facebook Fan page or at her blog page.

Of course, this is the first time my work appeared in 944 Magazine. Here is a link to a cover I had with them a few years a go.

Thanks!

Mina Cvatkovic - Artist Rendering

I thought this was a lot of fun. It is a photograph of the famous model Mina Cvetkovic that I shot for the Susana Monaco campaign. It has been rendered by the graphic artist, Jared Nickerson.

The original photo was taken at Pier59 Studios in New York with My Hasselblad H3D 39 megapixel camera. ISO 50 at 1/180 sec at F8 and my 150mm portrait lens. Lighting was Profoto.

Mina has been one of my favorite subjects. You have seen her on this blog several times. The Fall 2009 Susana Monaco Campaign; Part 1 and Part 2. The Winter Holday 2008 Susana Monaco Campaign, plus the behind the scenes photos. Also, she has inspired many to draw her from my photos. Here is a link to some of mine and Susan Monaco's shots Vault49 illustrated of Mina.

Thanks!

Photo of the Day - Svenja Parotat

I thought I would post a quick shot of a beautiful German model I photographed from Elite Models last year. This image is 100% un-retouched, so you can see Svenja is just naturally sexy. You have seen her on the cover of Elle, Madame Figaro, New York Magazine, and Ads for Escada, La Perla and Clariol. There is a really sexy series of her from Ellen Von Unwerth.

I used a Canon 5D Mark II with an 85mm 1.2 lens. I do not have my settings in front of me, but I expect it is around ISO 800 and F2.0. The only light is from the window behind and it bouncing around the room.

More Menswear

I posted some menswear the other day, so I thought I would continue. This is an old story I shot for a magazine a few years ago.

The model is John Moll and it was styled by Keith S. Washington. I shot this is Brooklyn with a Canon 20D with a 50mm 1.4 lens. ISO 400 1/60 sec at F2.8.

Oumlil - Menswear

Here is a shoot from a while back that I did with my friend, Rinze Van Brug. Check his photo blog here.

The shoot was for menswear designer, Oumlil. A beautifully tailored line. I personally wear a couple his shirts.

The photos were taken with Hasselblad H2D 39 megapixel camera with 100mm lens set at F2.2. The ISO varied between 200 and 400. Light was a mix of ambient light and modeling lights from strobes.

Thanks
