In the News - Allie Crandell

I was reading the Huffington Post and came across this article on MTV's Allie Crandell. It said Revolve Clothing had removed her from their website over online customers' concerns she was too skinny (photos in the link to Huffington Post below). Now, I photographed Allie a couple of years ago for the cover of National Jeweler's Magazine (also below). I am a big fan of Allie's. She was awesome on set and just a very cool young women. I haven't seen for a couple years, and I remember her being on the skinny side, but full of energy and eating heartily on set. Part of the difficulty I think, which NO ONE TALKS ABOUT, is with models that are not really really tall, they try to stay a touch skinnier so they look taller in photos. Allie is tall, but not for a model.

Heartloom SS 2011 Preview

Here is part one of a new story I am really excited about as it is a little different look for me. Shot on location with a 70's style. Very cool models; Ania Kedzior from Q and Brittany Hollis from Trump. I will try to post part two this week. I am still editing through it.

Shot with a Canon 5D Mark II with mostly an 85mm 1.2 lens. Too many lighting setups to mention here, though most have a strong component of natural light. Special thanks to my assistant, Spencer Kohn, for all his help on the shoot.

Here are 2 links to the last shoot with Heartloom for Spring Summer 2010 with Daniela Mirzac from Marilyn and Britni Stanwood from MC2..

Club Monaco Store Displays Are Up!

Very excited as the new store displays for Club Monaco are up everywhere. More of a technical than a creative job for me, I photographed the tapestries so they could be reproduced nationally. Under the direction of Club Monaco's Creative Director Donald West and printing gurus OneSource Visual Marketing Solutions, it really turned out amazing.

I have walked past the 57th St, 5th Ave, Broadway and Prince St locations and snapped a couple quick shots. Please send me any snapshots from locations outside Manhattan or just let me know if these displays are up in your town. I am not sure if it is an international campaign, so let me know.

Fashion Queen Magazine

I am excited that I just received a copy of editorial I photographed for Fashion Queen Magazine from Hong Kong and Taiwan. The magazine is oversized and has a great glossy feel that really shows the details of the Hasselblad H3D and its 39 Megapixels. This is my second editorial in a Hong Kong Magazine in the last year. The first was a vivid color story in Kee Magazine.

Photographed at my studio in Manhattan with Hasselblad H3D-39 with 150mm lens and Profoto Lights.

Interview on What About Us

Here is an interview I just did with the website What About US. I think it is a little different that some of my previous interviews. The site is very cool. In both French and English, it interviews artists they find interesting.

Here is the direct link, plus the article in English and French below (Click to make it bigger to read).
