What a hectic week. I headed out West to attend Blurb's San Francisco Photography.Book.Now meet-up. This was a followup to the awards ceremony in New York 2 weeks ago. Here is a link to my post on that event: http://michaelcreagh.wordpress.com/2009/09/25/photography-book-now-awards-new-york-2009-michael-creagh/
I only managed to be in San Francisco just under 24 hours, but it was well worth the trip. I only had an hour to walk around and take some photos. I focused on what was decidedly not New York.
The event was great. It was held at the Contemporary Jewish Museum (http://www.thecjm.org/). It is an absolutely beautiful building and a great venue for an event.
The event was once again packed with book and photography lovers pouring through all the winning books. I met some very cool people. I always find it odd but fun, to see someone looking through my book. And with books everywhere, you can't miss seeing some people spend an hour looking at your photos, and then another spending about 10 seconds! If you missed this event, there are still 2 morein Chicago and London. I am too busy to make it out to them, but judging by the last 2 events, they will be great.
Above: Lead judge Darius Himes of Radius Books (http://radiusbooks.org/) and Blurb CEO Eileen Gittins (http://Blurb.com) talk about self publishing and the Photography.Book.Now competetion.
Here is a link to my book which was honored at the event with the first Runner-Up prize in the Commercial Category.
