Did Schweppes Copy Me???

The model from the photo posted this on my Facebook wall an hour ago and frankly I am a little astounded.

My first thought is that Schweppes just totally copied me?!? I don't think I am crazy. I know there are some legal questions for copyright infringement, but there are so many similarities. The concept, pose, they copied the lighting, where the highlights and shadows fall, the feeling in the eyes, the super specific makeup with hair pulled back, and even the fingers look eerily similar.

I let Schweppes know what I thought at their Twitter account @schweppes. They have the hashtag #unexpected.

For those of you who are curious. My photo was published in 2008, Volume 21 of Noise Magazine and again as a story about me in Digital PhotoPro Magazine in May/June 2009. Of course it has been featured on countless blogs and exhibited at Agatha Ruiz de la Prada (see the photo in the background of one of the shots!!). I won awards for the photo from the Spider Black and White awards in London, The International Photography Awards (IPA), and most recently, the photo is part of my being named a Hasselblad Masters Finalist. It is even my Twitter and Tmblr photo!!

Model Albina

I am not sure what happened, but the beginning of this year has been non-stop and my blog has taken a back seat. I am taking some time off today to watch some football and I thought I would post some hot photos I took yesterday of Albina. We did a clinic on movement with makeup and hair by Yuko Takahashi and fashion styling by Adrienne Weinfeld-Berg.

Yaya Kosikova + Kate Netolicka

A couple weeks back I made it to the Ford Models Party. But like so many of my interactions with modeling agencies, I know them through phone calls and e-mails. So when I walk in, it is totally dark and the music is thumping.....I don't recognize anyone but a few super hot models whose books had been sent to me, but I never hired. That isn't really the conversation starter you want. So after bumming around chatting a few minutes here and there with some industry acquaintances, I am literally out the door when I run into the super gorgeous Kate Netolicka. I photographed her for my Trains series with Susana Monaco. She is so sweet. Her and her cool friend Yaya Kosikova invite me to hang out for a while, and save my night from being a bore.

Last week we finally got together to shoot. Here is the first look, cinema style. I will post more shots of the different looks in the near future.

I almost forgot tonight that MTV2 had my photo of Melanie Iglesias. I just got home from the studio a few minutes ago and I am back in the morning.

Urban Outfitters - Near Stampede?!

This has got to be one of the stupidest things I have seen. I really hate waiting in line. I hate even more, waiting in a line that has a small chance of killing me. To take the cake: this video is from Urban Outfitters. Really? Now I love Urban Outfitters as much as the next guy. I've got one on my street. It is frighteningly empty with sales signs in the window.

I don't really get the whole Black Friday wait for hours, risk hurting myself, my loved ones and others..... so that I can have the privilege of shopping. Something these stores spend millions trying to get me to do anyway. I mean people have died over the years. 10 people get a $200 TV and the rest get semi normal sales prices on old stock????

To the best of my knowledge, no one was hurt in this video. But is anyone else reminded of the 1979 tragedy at the Who concert? Maybe, it is time for stores to think a little more about safety. How about those Great America barricades to have a nice orderly line?!

A few weeks back Emily and I got together at the Algonquin Hotel to shoot for her new CD; Live at the Algonquin, Kidding on the Square. She has an amazing cabaret show on Mondays from November 21 to December 19 at 7:30pm. Here's a link to all the show info.

Nue by Shani - Bicycle Built for Two

I want to share my new shoot with NUE by Shani. The collection features dresses with built in body architecture that comfortably shapes and smoothes a woman's body from top to bottom creating a flawless figure. Follow them on Facebook.

We had so much fun with the tandem bicycle. My only regret is that when my assistant Spencer rode the bike to the shoot and someone shouted at him, "You lost your passenger!" that he didn't respond with something like "Grandma?!"

There were over 11,000 images submitted from more than 80 countries, so it was quite an honor to be recognized at all. The winning image was from last year's Heartloom Campaign. I also had the the series I photographed for Kee Magazine to listed as Nominees.

I have been pretty fortunate in the last couple years to be recognized for several different awards. Most recently I was named a Hasselblad Master's Finalist. 2 years Ago, Blurb’s Photography.Book.Now 2009 1st Runner-Up; Blurb’s New York Awards Ceremony and San Francisco Awards Ceremony. For 3 years, I received an Honorable Mentions in the International Photography Awards (New York) 2008, 2009, 2010. In 2008, I received an Honorable Mention in Prix de la Photographie Paris Award. Finally, I received Nominee mentions in the Black and White Spider Awards (London); 2009 & 2010.

Great Behind the Scenes Video of Flipbook 3

For those of you thought you saw a lot of behind the scenes footage in the Flip Book 3 teaser, the new behind the scenes video offers so much more; a lot more Melanie Iglesias, a lot more Michael Creagh, and a lot more photography. I try not to read to many of the comments on YouTube, but when I do I see people so incorrectly describing what we do. This video really shows us working and the techniques...and it is sexy and fun. You get to also see some of process Melanie and I use to create mood, feel, and sexiness.

Flip Book 3 is at 500,000 views in 2 days with loads of YouTube honors and we are fast approaching 4 million views for the series. So exciting.

I wanted to post the second video I directed for super singer Natascha Bessez. This one is a french remake of the song Skyscraper by Demi Lovato. Beautiful song that really fit Natascha's beautiful voice. This is our second video collaboration. The first was Shakira's Rabiosa. Also, below the video are some links to some of our photoshoots.

Italian Vogue with Fluvia Lacerda

I am very excited to announce Vogue Italia is running 2 of my photos with famed model Fluvia Lacerda on their website. Italian Vogue was the first fashion magazine I ever paid attention to. I was living in Tuscany and just getting deep into photography. I would marvel at the images inside by the world's best photographers and wonder how to create them.

Celebrity Stories - Hilary Swank

I thought I would try out a new series on my blog tonight called celebrities stories. I am not going to include photos in most of these posts as I am not going to tell stories about celebrities I necessarily photographed. Think of my photography work as doctor/patient or attorney/client privilege. I don't want to break any covenant that may exist with celebrities that put their trust in me. Instead, the posts will be more New York stories of living in the city and running into stars.

I thought I would start with Hilary Swank, the beautiful 2-time Oscar winner, since she was in the news this week for an ill conceived trip to Chechnya. Nothing big, she attended a birthday party for the President, Ramzan Kadyrov. But he is a controversial figure for human rights violations. For those of you who don't know. There was a war, atrocities, some pretty upsetting terrorism. Putin appointed Kadyrov President in 2007 and he has taken a hard line against the Chechen rebels. Since the birthday party, she made a nice statement and donated the cash to various charities.

Hilary Swank and a Muffin
When I still shot all film, some years back, I had an almost daily routine. Take the subway to Union Square and walk to the different labs in the photo district; some for E-6, some for prints, etc. I was almost always dropping off or picking up. On this particular day, I am hungry, really hungry. So up from the Subway, I stop at the great Farmer's Market right there in the square. I buy this wonderfully big chocolate muffin.

I exit the square going west on 17th street heading to the first photo lab past 6th Ave. I start unwrapping the cellophane and I am looking down at this big muffin with my mouth watering. I take a huge bite. Maybe too big of a bite and as I struggle to control the massive gob of muffin in my mouth, I look up and see an absolutely lovely looking, Hilary Swank directly opposite me on the sidewalk. Except she isn't completely lovely looking as she has a somewhat horrified look on her face as she had just watched me attack that muffin.

I never said a word to her (I physically couldn't with that much muffin in my mouth). I didn't smile or find some crazy way to start up a conversation with her that led to an awesome photoshoot you could now go see on my website. I just kept walking and chewing.

If it is worth anything, the muffin was really tasty.

1 Million Hits - Melanie Iglesias Flip Book

It's official. 1 Million hits for Flip Book 1. I still remember when Melanie and I joked that maybe we would get 50,000 hits. Here is the screen shot that I only thought would ever come in my life if someone got some video of me falling into a fountain or something with all my cameras.

I want to thank everyone who helped us in this phenomenal .....I don't know the word for it....achievement?...This force that just took off. I, first and foremost, want thank Melanie, as do the million people who saw the video. She is amazing; so sweet, down to earth. It is her.

I want to thank Philip DeFranco for introducing his audience to us with “MELANIE IGLESIAS RAISES DEBT CEILING BY SELLING CHINESE CHILDREN .“ It was the single biggest help. His show is constantly amazing. I am a big fan.

Melanie Iglesias Flip Book 2 is Finally Here!!!

It is the moment we have all been waiting for since the first 3:42 seconds ended, The Melanie Iglesias Flip Book Part 2!!!!! It was so much fun to shoot the sequel. I hope everyone enjoys watching it as much as we enjoyed making it. Of course, our mystery guest is revealed in the first image on the video preview below. It is the gorgeous Lisa Ramos!!

Check back here soon as I will post the awesome behind the scenes photos in the next week or so. We didn't take any during the original video, so we made up for it with lots of fun and sexy shots. Here is a tiny taste, but Melanie and I still have to select the final ones to post.

Here is a screen shot from my hot shoot today with Model Andrea Tanner from APM Models. We were looking through the shoots in Adobe Bridge and I was taking out the little bit of the black jacket that I clipped kind of messy. Beautifully long legs!! No Photoshop there! I am not even sure this is the final shot. She look great in all of them and there are loads more. I will try to post some of the other looks we did once I get a chance to go over them myself.

Fashion's Night Out with Susana Monaco

For those fashion fans out there who still have not closed out their fashion week events, Susana Monaco is doing a Fashion's Night Out event at Bloomingdale's (3rd Ave and 59th St)!!! Should be fun and a great opportunity to meet the designer Susana and see the clothing line. There will be food, drinks and a DJ. Of course, I will be there as well if you want to hang with me. Alison Burnet - New Hot Shoot!

I had a shoot with hot model Alison Burnett today. It is hard to believe that is like the fourth time we worked together, but only the second time I got to decide what to create. You can see the gorgeous results from the first one here. Alison is one of my favorite muses. She is just naturally very sensual. You will see texture in the skin, moles, spots on the floor, and little "mistakes" because I didn't retouch a thing. I thought it was great to see her real beauty.

You can hire Alison through Basic Models in New York. Makeup and Hair by Oz Rodriguez. All photos today were taken on Canon 5D Mark II with mostly an 85mm 1.2 lens and the full length with a 24-70mm 2.8 lens. The exposures and lighting varied a lot. Studio shots were taken with Broncolor.

I am really excited to post my new pharmaceutical Ad Campaign with BioLife Plasma Services. It was a real pleasure to shoot. Celina, who has primary immunodeficiency, was just fantastic in front of the camera. And that painting in the photo is really hers!!!

We are on set right now with Jocelyn (http://www.cassincollections.com/pages/jocelyn/). Here is a screen shot of 2 of the first looks!!! Very cool. Hopefully, we will post up more of the hot photos in the next couple weeks. We have to save some of the collection to be a surprise!

We are shooting Hasselblad H3D 39 megapixel with and 80mm and 150mm lens and un-diffused Broncolor head with the Scoro Pack. ISO 100 1/350 F8.
